In the course of a short lecture tour of the USA Dr. Ruan O’Donnell (Department of History) addressed the Atlanta Irish Chamber of Commerce in the Capital City Club on 11 March 2016. His speech on ‘America and the 1916 Rising’ was very well received by the annual St. Patrick’s Day forum, which hosted Taoiseach Enda Kenny in 2015.

O’Donnell, a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Limerick, was invited to speak by Ireland’s Atlanta Consul General Shane Stephens and Kevin Conboy, outgoing President of the Irish Chamber. On 12 March O’Donnell was Honorary Marshal of the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade which attracted 80,000 attendees.
