The Centre for Applied Language Studies (CALS) and the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics are hosting Dr. Brook Bolander from the University of Hong Kong as part of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Programme.
Brook Bolander is an Assistant Professor in the School of English at the University of Hong Kong. Her major research interests include the sociolinguistics of globalisation, language use and space, English as a transnational language, and language use online. She has published a monograph on Language and Power in Blogs (John Benjamins, 2013), and is currently working on a special issue on language and globalisation in South and Central Asian spaces (with Till Mostowlansky) forthcoming with the International Journal of the Sociology of Language (2017).
Brook will be based in CALS from 30th May to 11th June and, among other activities, she will be facilitated a workshop on the sociolinguistics of transnationalism on 8th June.
